Thrupp White Lines Painting

Big Thank You to the Parish Council

Dear Sarah,

Many apologies for the delay in thanking you again for the very swift action on the white lining in Thrupp. It’s great to have them sparkling and renewed and they seem to be having an effect

Time to get walking again!

Time to get walking again!

With Spring on its way, we start to think about getting out to walk in the beautiful English Countryside again, but where to find new and interesting walks?

Walking in Oxfordshire https://www.walkinginengland.co.uk/oxfordshire has loads of walks to download and print, free, it also has books of walks, details of all the walking groups in the county, and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group all the information is there in one place.

John Harris (who maintains the website) said ‘There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Oxfordshire (part of the Walking in England website) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

So home or away, check out the websites and get walking!

Weather warning from the Met Office

Please see attached Adverse Weather warning from the Met Office. This is a Cold Weather Alert Level-3, in effect from 18:00hrs Wednesday 7th December – 09:00hrs Monday 12th December.

This may be extended as the cold conditions currently look to continue further into next week. You may wish to consider any impacts on your communities and cascade as appropriate.

Highlights

  • Conditions are expected to turn rather cold by mid-week as air from the Arctic spreads south across the country.
  • Very cold nights are expected, with widespread frosts and potentially severe frosts.
  • Daytime temperatures persisting near or just above freezing, with overnight temperatures continuing to trend downwards.
  • Wintry showers in some coastal areas may push inland at times, bringing a risk of icy patches

Further information and guidance is available online:

Keep an eye on the forecasts over the next week.

Kind regards,

Emergency Planning
